Why PetParently exists
Most pet care content online is written for dogs and cats and then loosely adapted for everything else. That is how a bearded dragon ends up in a 20-gallon tank with no UVB.
PetParently publishes husbandry guides: how to house an animal, what and how often to feed it, how to keep its space clean, and how to handle it without undoing months of trust. We write one species at a time, with real numbers — temperatures in °F and °C, enclosure sizes in feet and inches, feeding intervals in days.
What we cover
- Dogs: Dog
- Cats: Cat
- Reptiles: Ball Python, Bearded Dragon, Leopard Gecko, Corn Snake
- Small Pets: Guinea Pig, Syrian Hamster, Rabbit
- Birds: Budgie (Parakeet)
What we deliberately don't do
- We don't diagnose illnesses or interpret symptoms.
- We don't give medication doses or suggest treatments.
- We don't repeat anonymised "my pet ate X" stories as if they were evidence.
If your animal is unwell, injured, or behaving abnormally, contact a veterinarian. For urgent situations, an emergency vet is faster and safer than any article.
How the guides are built
Every species sits on a single set of parameters — temperature, humidity, diet, lifespan, activity pattern. All pages read from that same source, so you will never find two guides on this site giving different numbers for the same animal. Guides carry a reviewed date and are updated when husbandry standards change.
