How we write these guides

Scope

We cover husbandry: housing, environment, feeding, cleaning, routine and handling. We do not provide diagnosis or treatment. Content that would cross that line is excluded by design.

Sources and numbers

• Each species has one canonical parameter set, and every page on the site reads from it.
• Ranges are given rather than single values where practice genuinely varies, with both °F and °C.
• Where a number matters to welfare — basking temperature, humidity, enclosure size — we say so explicitly instead of hedging.

Review and updates

Guides carry a reviewed date. Husbandry guidance changes (UVB recommendations and minimum enclosure sizes have both moved in recent years), and we update rather than leave old numbers standing.

Corrections

If you spot an error — especially a number — please tell us. We would rather correct it quickly than defend it.
